Satyagraha was born in 1907 in South Africa. This inner awakening in a Leader .Mahatma Gandhi led to the downfall of the British Empire in the sub continent. Civil Rights Movement & and Apartheid led to the purging of gross human inequalities. Thanks to Leaders of the stature of Martin Luther King & Nelson Mandela. Mass awakening brought about all these social transformations.

Unfortunately a new set of unsustainable social change set into India. In our lifetime we have seen the emergence and growth of selfish interest groups blatantly controlling resources ; ” nexus between Politician-Bureaucrat -Businessmen”.This is the scourge of democracy is a view expressed by many. Capitalism and it’s role in ultimately creating a handful of large business entities is being questioned. This has led to creation of inequality in wealth..India’s 1% rich control 70% of it’s wealth. Is this sustainable?

The driving force this time around is once again “…the inner awakening..”

The emphatic call for climate change ,minimum acceptable well being of all; sharing and caring for resources viz water ; cleanliness as a right; better public health; accountability of politicians & bureaucrats; is all too evident for us to see. Prince Harry’s own self awareness and inner courage has led him to break away from the luxurious comfort of being a “Royal”.This bears testimony to what “inner transformation” can accomplish.

Climate change led to,banning of low thickness plastics and adoption of alternate bio-degradable material in Tamilnadu. World over , replacement of fossil fuel by natural resources viz solar and wind for power generation is progressing rapidly. Cutting edge R&D- in electric vehicles; more affordable medical devices; in creating availability of cheaper drugs seem to be the order of the day. Disruptive change via digital platforms in education will create more opportunities for education through wider reach and affordability; Financial services and use of data will create wealth management options for individuals. Till recently they were unheard of.Today even critics dare not challenge the imminent societal transformation, as there is an uprising for betterment of quality of life.

Jeff Bezoz, founder of Amazon was recently in India. He spoke about co-creating a system that would embrace small and medium entrepreneurs to provide client solutions. Amazon’s platform would be available as a stepping stone for phenomenal success of S&M entrepreneurs in less than 5 years. This was Bezos’s prediction. He pledged USD 1.0 billon as capital infusion for implementation,Is this a game changing commitment?

Reliance Retail announced the launch of 18 “last mile delivery connect “S&M retail outlets in Navi Mumbai , as partners. Reliance Retail offered their online servicing platforms to jumpstart this venture. Both business houses have strategized to encompass “last mile reach..” both for “well being of many” and their own business interests. The timely huge investment is laudable. Are we witnessing a transition to “create more purchasing power “

Infrastructure like digital education, clean environment, ,ample availability of essential utilities, connectivity ,including 5G, must keep pace to bring about all around “ minimum acceptable well being..”

Otto Sharmer aptly conveyed we are witnessing what “The intelligence of the Heart” can do..and Angel Kyodo Williams stated :

“Without Inner Change , there can be no outer change,

Without Collective Change , No Change Matters…”

Creating self awareness and being guided “ by the heart” heralds the arrival of a relatively new and innovative industry in India. Coaching.Improved confidence ,self esteem;creating a mindset towards respect for all, kindness, giving and love for collective well being etc can catalyse a social transformation..This, in turn, will empower individuals to dream and realise them by maximising their potential. Surely, collective change will happen progressively and lead to societal transformation.
